Most people, when considering the study of psychology relate to the brain as being the center of mental activity. Indeed, the brain is the physical organ which registers and retains thoughts and memories, much like a computer. However, the mind itself actually functions through the etheric (bioplasmic) body and leaves its impressions throughout the entire physical structure. You may have heard the maxim: "You are what you eat". This might also be stated, "You are what you think." In other words, the matter that we take into our bodies helps to shape our physical structures, and by the same token, the thoughts we project, and the emotional reactions that pass through our bodies, also affects its form and texture. Thus the body is a reflection of the mind, and in turn, as the body develops in certain ways, the mind will act as a reflection of the body. The body's tissues will actually adjust their size and texture according to the quality of emotions and thoughts passing through it. Positive energy will help to keep the body flexible and supple, whereas suppressed actions of desires will tend to create energy blocks in the etheric and then physical bodies. Blocked energy will actually form rigidity in the tissue. The rigidity then collects and help to form "body armor", a term used to illustrate the excess tissue which builds up to create a psychological "protective" barrier. Massage therapist experience this daily in their clients as tightness in the trapezius muscies, where we have literally taken the weight of the world on our shoulders, and in assorted other areas, according to our particular body psychology.
