In the Indian tradition eight methods have been suggested for foreknowledge of good and evil. They are 1.Anga(limbs) 2.Swapna(dreams) 3.Swara(sound) 4.Bhoomi(attitude) 5.Vyanjana(marks on the body) 6.Lakshana(omens) 7.Utpatha(phenomena like earthquake) 8.Anthariksha(space). Of all these, Anga gets the place of honour by being mentioned first. Among Anga, the hand is considered more important than even the head.
The ancient Indian sages described the knowledge of the hand which they gathered through three means: 1.Darshana(seeing) 2.Sparshana(touching) 3.Vimarshana(analyzing). The knowledge thus gained threw light on all the aspects of life. The Indian tradition holds that the Anga Vidya was first invented by the Sea God, Samudra. It was thereafter developed and handed down to humanity by sages like Narada and Gargya. Lord Skanda is held to be the patron deity of this science. Since God Samudra is the originator of the science the study is called Samudrika Shastra.
This science was studied and developed by many big personalities in history such as Aristotle, Julius Caesar, Napoleon and many others. Nepoleon was a great believer in this occult science and once said 'perhaps the fact can deceive but never the hand'. In recent years we learnt that Hitler had a band of occultists whom he used to consult on many occasions.
Recently the science of palmistry is being developed on a different basis and medical palmistry is gaining importance. This science can also be developed with other practical objectives. The hand has a psychological significance and the lines and the mounts on the hand can revel the emotional and sentimental aspect of a person. This study may be useful in psychiatry. Similarly the study of the hand can disclose the likes, dislikes and aptitude of a person which will help us in selecting a proper career for an individual. The study will be equally useful in tracing out the inherent virtues, abilities and drawbacks of an individual so that proper psychoanalysis of his personality will assist him to improve his career. The study may be equally useful in criminology and in finding out doubtful parentage.
Palmistry is a treasure island. Valuable and tremendous information can be gathered from the hand. It is like Alibaba's secret cave where one must know the keyword, 'Open Seasame'. Once we master the art of reading the palm, and have an insight into the working of the mounts and lines on the palm, it is very easy to delineate vividly the life of a person. |
